“never again” headband

Warrior’s Friend:
I am the lone wood in the warp of battle,
Wounded by iron, broken by blade,
Weary of war. Often I see
Battle-rush, rage, fierce fight flaring—
I hold no hope for help to come
Before I fall finally with warriors
Or feel the flame. The hard hammer-leavings

The answer to this riddle is: A shield.
The Challenge:
* Craft a shield. Spinners, find a picture of a shield (historical or fictitious) and make something reminiscent of its colours. Or, if you can think of another answer to this riddle, craft that. Make sure to explain what your answer is and why you chose it.
* Craft something that will protect you from something unpleasant or undesirable.
* Craft something that will protect an object that is important to you from something unpleasant or undesirable.

I few months ago, I got a hair cut that included bangs. It looked good for a few days, now the bangs are kinda bugging me. I am trying to grow them out, but like I said they are bugging me. I’m tempted to cut them again just to get them out of my eyes. But I must remember, I don’t like the bangs.

To PROTECT me from getting my bangs cut before they grow out long enough to stay out of my face I knit myself a Jayne hat inspired headband. I improvised the pattern using some yo’s and k2tog’s to make the little “v’s” and an i-Cord for the tie. I chose the Jayne hat colors to tie it back in to my team and Firefly. The weather is warming up quickly down here in Florida, I wouldn’t get to wear a Jayne hat until next season. The headband will protect my bangs and keep me cool this spring. and of course we all love Jayne:
