Round 1 which ended last week. I meant to get this posted last week, but my web provider took a vacation or something and took my blog with him, apparently. So I’m back up, with a new host and hopefully my blog won’t decide to go MIA with out me any more.

With out further ado, my third project completed for Nerd Wars round 1:

Firefly Market Bag w/ Blue Sun logo

The challenge was to make something that could be seen at a Con. The category was Nerd Culture. Here is my description:
This will be a “market” bag to carry along at a Con to hold any collected swag. This project will be submitted for the Nerd Culture challenge in Rav Nerd Wars. The “Blue Sun” logo is seen through out the series Firefly and the movie Serenity. Inspiration for this bag came while watching the “Message” episode of Firefly. Any member of the Serenity Crew would have carried along this market bag to hold items while they wander around in the space station. They may have even used it to conceal the Lassiter, they were trying to find a buyer for.

This project, barely cool from the last few stitches, suddenly disappeared to the teenager’s room and even took a trip to the mall before it was photographed. I guess she liked it. I didn’t specifically knit it for her, but if she likes it that much, and shares a bit of nerdiness with me, she can keep it. It makes a mamma proud when her offspring like nerdy things.

My Ravelry Project page is here. This project earned my team 13 points for the project and another 2 bonus points (I have yet to find out what the bonus points are, but hey, I’ll take them). I am still pluggin along on my dissertation project. It is not going as fast as I anticipated, but I am having a lot of fun doing all these little projects. Nerd Wards Round 2 began yesterday and I have already started a project for it…you’ll have to stay tuned.
