I just finished knitting and submitted my first completed project for Nerd Wars. 13 points, for Team Browncoat, tyvm!
I am coming along nicely on my big dissertation project, but wanted to take a break and gain some early points for my team. I whipped up these little guys in a couple days:
The Challenge: “Valentine’s Day”, knit an item for that special character in your nerddom. My inspiration: the pilot episode of Firefly where Wash is playing with his dinosaurs on the bridge.
“Everything looks good from here.
Yes… Yes… This is a fertile land and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land and we will call it… This Land.
I think we should call it your grave!
Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
Ha ha ha, mine is an evil laugh, now die!
Ahh, no God. Oh, dear god in heaven.
[sirens start blaring as Wash stares to a radar console]
Oh, motherless, son of a b… ” ~Wash from Firefly
The yarn used for the Stegosaurus was purchased from a team mate and the colorway is called “Wash”, I thought it fitting to use for my first challenge. The yarn for the Tyrannosaurus rex was yarn from my stash that I thought was fitting for a “browncoat” color. The pattern is one I purchased a few years ago to knit up a dino for my big daughter’s bff. I had a lot of fun making these little guys, but will be happy to get back to my dissertation sweater. They are fiddly little guys to make. The bony plates on Steggy took me longer to sew on, then it did to knit him.
